On March 10, Xinhua News Agency released "How to view the development of China's foreign trade? - The Seventh Question and Answer of China's Economy during the Two Sessions", which reads as follows:

Foreign trade is one of the traditional "troika" driving economic growth. Since the slowdown of China's foreign trade growth last year, some foreign media hyped "China's foreign trade winter is coming" and "China's export order transfer" in order to sing down the Chinese economy.

What is the current development situation of China's foreign trade enterprises? How do you view China's foreign trade situation? During the National Two sessions, journalists interviewed representatives and members of the industry to discuss the above issues and respond to outside concerns.

What is the development situation of China's foreign trade?

Looking back at 2023, in the face of multiple challenges such as sluggish external demand and the superposition of uncertain factors, China's annual trade in goods imports and exports increased slightly by 0.2% in renminbi, and negative export growth in individual months, compared with the growth rate of 21.4% in 2021 and 7.7% in 2022, which is indeed "slower".

Some Western media carried out one-sided and static reports, saying that "the winter of China's foreign trade is coming", amplifying pessimistic expectations about the Chinese economy. So what is the reality?

According to the latest import and export data released by the General Administration of Customs, in renminbi terms, the total value of China's trade in goods increased by 8.7% in the first two months of this year, of which the export growth rate returned to double digits of 10.3%; In dollar terms, imports and exports rose 5.5 per cent from a year earlier, with exports up 7.1 per cent.

The Chinese website of the Wall Street Journal described China's exports in the first two months as "strong" and said that the increase in exports was much higher than the 3% expected by economists it surveyed earlier.

Deutsche Welle said the unexpected increase in exports could give cause for optimism about China's economic growth target of around 5 percent.

Not only look at the "book", the feeling from the enterprise is more intuitive.
